Richard W. Beauchamp, P.E.

Vice President of Technical Services

Mr. Beauchamp began working with Thoroughbred as a consultant in 2016 and joined the team in July 2018 as the Vice President of Technical Services.  He has served in various capacities across a wide variety of mineral commodities over his 20+ year career.

Prior to joining Thoroughbred, Mr. Beauchamp worked as an independent consultant, assisting clients across multiple commodities including aggregates, coal, phosphate, and potash. He also served as the Chief Engineer for Intercontinental Potash and was responsible for revamping the Ochoa Project Feasibility Study, a $1+ billion polyhalite (potassium sulfate) mine and processing facility with associated desalination and transload facilities.  Mr. Beauchamp has served in various roles ranging from Mine Engineer to Engineering Manager at Patriot Coal, Arch Coal, and Anker Energy.  While with Arch Coal, he also served on the company’s Mine Rescue team and has provided mine rescue services to multiple emergencies including the Aracoma and Upper Big Branch disasters.  He began his career with IMC Phosphates in several progressive front-line supervisory roles.

Mr. Beauchamp hold a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He is also a Registered Professional Engineer in WV and CO.
